Anthony Kimble’s fledgling UK content development and financing outfit Fugitive is moving into distribution with competitive dating format Mom vs Matchmaker.

Mom vs Matchmaker sees celebrity matchmaker Carmelia Ray compete with a mother in each episode to see who can find the best date for the mum’s son or daughter. The show was originally produced by Go Button Media for Canada’s OutTV and is exec produced by its creator, Go Button’s Natasha Ryan.

Fugitive has the sales rights to the 40×30’ episodes that have aired so far and is also pre-selling an additional 10 episodes for the fifth season. It will also represent the format internationally.

Kimble said: “Having lived in South Africa, I’ve long been aware of Helena’s incredible body of work and I am beyond excited to be working with her on these new projects.

“Much of Helena’s slate covers topical issues of race, gender and sexuality, but with new settings and different types of characters. These are just the sort of programmes that people are saying should be made now – and early interest, particularly from those streamers and broadcasters who like to break new ground, is looking very positive.”
